Digitopia Unveils Digital & AI Maturity Report 2026

DELAWARE – Digitopia, the leading global authority on digital and AI maturity, today announced the release of the Digital & AI Maturity Report 2026. Based on a massive dataset of 1,575 assessmentsconducted throughout 2025, the report provides an unprecedented reality check on how organizations across 46 countries are navigating the convergence of digital foundations and AI acceleration.

The 2026 edition introduces the DAIMI (Digital & AI Maturity Index), a weighted framework (80% Digital / 20% AI) designed to measure how effectively organizations build the capabilities required to turn technology into measurable business value.

A Global Reality Check: Technology Leveled Up, Organizations Didn’t

The report’s primary finding is a stark warning to executives: while AI capabilities jumped a generation in the last 12 months, enterprise maturity has moved only marginally. The global average DAIMI score sits at 2.93, with a significant gap between Digital Maturity (3.06) and AI Maturity (2.38).

“We are living in a time when the gap between the speed of innovation and the speed of adoption is greater than ever,” said Peter Sondergaard, Chairman of Digitopia. “Understanding where you stand against your competitors is no longer optional—it is the ‘North Star’ for survival”.

US Spotlight: Leadership is No Longer Guaranteed

The US chapter of the benchmark shows a solid national position (DAIMI 2.99), ahead of EMEA but trailing the rapid adoption cycles seen in APAC. While US digital foundations are strong, the report highlights a “reality gap” between Silicon Valley headlines and the broader economy’s struggle to scale AI beyond isolated pilots.

  • Sector Leaders: Banking leads the US market with a DAIMI of 3.45, followed by Consumer Goods (3.18) and Automotive (3.12).
  • The Laggards: Construction (2.72), Tourism (2.62), and Public Services (2.60) risk falling into a structural maturity gap.

The DAIMI Playbook: Three Strategic Recommendations

To help leaders bridge the “Execution Chasm,” Digitopia outlines three non-negotiable pillars for success in 2026:

  1. Assess Your Maturity: Take Control of the Baseline. You cannot manage what you do not measure. Organizations must replace opinions with evidence to identify exactly where they are stuck.
  2. Define Your Strategy: Make Tech Serve the Business. Strategy is a set of choices, not a wish list. AI should not be “innovation theatre” but a lever for specific business priorities like growth and efficiency.
  3. Execute Your Roadmap: Turn Priorities into Value. Winners focus on a small number of value-creating initiatives and scale them relentlessly. Pilots are only useful if they become production.

“The threat isn’t that AI replaces your company overnight,” said Halil Aksu, Co-CEO of Digitopia. “The threat is that competitors use AI to out-learn and out-execute you until the gap is no longer closable. In 2026, transformation is the operating model of the future”.
